New year, new decade, new me?
Not likely. I’m just being honest. At the beginning of any year, I’m aware of the enormous pressure on us all to suddenly present a better, more shiny version of ourselves. When

we’re faced with a bombardment of messages & images of those around us #livingtheirbestlives, we feel the need to frantically make resolutions to become fitter, thinner, richer, better organised in order to live a more valued life. And these intentions last for about 10 minutes until you remember that selection box at the bottom of your desk drawer. Or is that just me?
I am a sucker for lifestyle magazines but their January editions scream ‘A new you!’ ’10 ways to improve you’ and (this is for real) ‘YOU but better!’ The subliminal message being ‘You’re not very good!’
I was in a meeting in Debra’s room the other day and she has a poster in there which reads ‘You are enough’ and I came away thinking what a positive and affirming message.
So that’s the message of Cruse’s New Year column: ‘You are enough’.
Now where’s that disappointingly small Curly Wurly…
