Hello! I’m Millie.J.B in year 8. Reading is my passion so I’ve written some book reviews for you.
Cowgirl – By G.R.Gemin.
Cowgirl is a very funny book. All set on a housing estate in Wales, it is about a girl whose mum is at her wits end, her dad is in prison and now her Gran has a cow in her back yard…
I extremely enjoyed this book, watching Gemma – a teenage town girl –become attached to a dozen cows who belong to her new friend Kate. Together they go to extremes to stop the Bryn Mawr dozen going straight to the slaughter house.
I would rate this book 4½ /5 stars for its humour, friendship, romance and downright wackiness.

The Diary of Anne Frank
The Diary of Anne Frank is a very moving story. This is the diary of a teenage girl hiding with her family and four others in a secret annexe, which is connected to her father’s work place in Amsterdam. She hides for 2 years, from 1942-1944.
Anne, her sister and parents, the Van Daan family and a grumpy dentist called Mr Dussel were all Jewish, therefore they had to go into hiding from the Nazis otherwise they would have been sent to concentration camps- where people were imprisoned, enslaved and often killed.
Anne describes what it is like being a teenager during the Second World War, how her body changes and she has no one to talk to, how she falls in love with Peter-the only other teenager in the annexe - and how she grows apart from her parents.
Anne calls her diary ‘Kitty’ and writes as if she’s writing letters to her. She tells ‘Kitty’ about the arguments, her fears of being arrested, her feelings towards the others and the snippets of humour that happen every now and then.
This book is great for those looking for a true and meaningful book. I honestly didn’t enjoy it as much as I thought I would but still consider it a good read. I rate this book 3/5 stars.
