Friday 15 November: The Sixth Form held its own version of ‘The Great British Bake Off’. Each form needed to make twelve BUNS (hmmm, some of the forms made biscuits as well as buns...) The theme of the cakes was ‘Children In Need’ and all of the money collected in was given to charity. The sixth formers donated £1 or more each in return for a BUN (or, ah, a biscuit).

The best cakes were chosen down in the Refectory during break. But the question is, how were they judged? Mr Lomas (the main judge- and cake expert) said that the cakes were judged according to their taste, looks and how light they were (some were heavy in taste/texture). He also rated how ‘Pudsey’ they were, giving the winning buns a 10/10 in this category.
The form who made the best buns were 12PKD. The members of the winning form were cheering in delight as they took their victory with style. Natasha Birch and Eleanor McGill (the bakers for the form) made buns and, oh there were some biscuits. They both tried out some ideas on decorations and techniques then carried on from the best idea, devoting a lot of time to the process. Overall, PKD was super happy to have won. A few had said that they ‘felt proud of their form’ to have won but others said that they expected it and weren’t surprised.
Overall, sixth formers managed to make a combined amount with the ‘PA for a day’ of around £500.
