Mr Thomson has recently sent out an email about future opportunities for Year 12 students. Work experience and summer schools are useful for personal statements and to ensure people get on the right courses. Mr Thomson is explicit in saying that if anyone wants to do any sort of work experience or take part in any of the summer opportunities that you need to apply now, as deadlines are fast approaching, and places are dwindling.

If you are planning on doing work experience outside of Derbyshire, you must have all the paperwork sorted by April. However, if you’re looking for work experience within Derbyshire, Mr Thomson has provided a link to help: https://derbyshire.work-experience.co.uk/login/ and use the username: buxtonstudent, and the password: buxton1

For summer opportunities, many of their application periods end soon so make sure that you apply for them as soon as possible. Mr Thomson advises that the sooner you do the first application the easier it will be for you to write subsequent applications.

Mr Thomson has offered to help with any of the aforementioned opportunities and can see you 10.50 – 11.10 or 1.00 - 1.20 in D7. He says that if he is not there you can always drop him an email.

In the original email from Mr Thomson, he has attached a list of opportunities you can go through; if you can’t find anything suitable you need to contact him as soon as possible.
